Neighbours Every Day is Relationships Australia’s social connection campaign promoting the benefits of social connection and building capacity for everyone in Australia to make and maintain respectful relationships. As a ‘Very Neighbourly Organisation’, Shellharbour City Council is proud to uphold and promote the principles of Neighbours Every Day.
Neighbours Every Day aims to empower everyone in Australia to create belonging: for themselves, for their families and for their neighbours. Community members can do this by focusing on inclusion and connection, making others welcome, and by building respectful relationships with those around us.

Be a good neighbour
Shellharbour’s Neighbour Card can help you share your details with your neighbours and list ways that you can help each other and stay connected. We encourage everyone to look out for each other and reach out to your neighbours if you need help or can offer help.

Good Neighbour Awards
Shellharbour City Council holds the annual Good Neighbour Awards to recognise and celebrate the community members who reach out, support and help care for the people in their neighbourhoods. Shellharbour has been celebrating Good Neighbours since 2001. These awards are celebrated as part of Relationship Australia's National Neighbour Day, which is held on the last Sunday of March each year.
Nominating someone is the perfect way to say thanks for being a great neighbour as well as going in the draw to win great prizes. Thanks to very generous donations from our corporate sponsors, the 2024 awards had over $2,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.

- Children's Drawing Competition
